Every single seal I offer is made individually by me and all by hand. I use real wax and only real wax. A lot of places that offer seals use what is called "faux" wax. This is usually colored hot glue or some form of plastic. I've experimented with it before and it looks like plastic. I do not care for it, it isn't for me, and I don't offer it in my shop. I'm old school with many things and something as traditional as a wax seal, I believe should be made out of wax. This wax looks and feels like real wax should. The wax is flexible and can be sent through the mail.
I take pride in making sure each seal is beautiful and near perfect as possible. If not, I do not include it in the order. Every single seal is handmade by one person from start to finish. If I don't approve of it, it goes into my personal wax seal collection that is used for friends and family. Not potential clients. I will make sure you get the very best I have to offer.
Made to order handmade art journal. This is a reproduction of an oil painting my dad painted. I saw this and absolutely fell in love with it and was able to get it from him in exchange for a box of chocolates.

Handmade Hydrangea Wedding Album. Or this can be used as a photo album, sketchbook, writing journal, art journal and probably some other things I haven't thought of yet. Whatever you decide, this is a beautiful book.

Made to order ~~ Please allow 2-3 weeks to complete.
Hydrangea paper is on the front and back covers. I like to keep the inside cover paper (endpapers) as a surprise. I promise I will pick out a good one.
I can't emphasize enough how much I love this album. Hydrangeas remind me of my grandfather and this was created in memory of him.
Dimensions:
10 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches
Paper:
40 pages of hand torn mixed media paper (80 front and back). I like a deckle edge to my pages and it gives it a completely different look than a straight cut piece of paper. I think it adds a distinctive and elegant look that you can't get with mass produced journals or albums.
This is a high quality hand crafted piece of art that will last years if given a bit of care and respect. I make sure I use all acid free materials to ensure longevity.
Includes tabs in between each section of paper. This means you can not only draw or write anything in this album, but you can also add pictures.
Original artwork created by Traci Owens. Titled, "Tales of Lulu Guna"
The original piece of art was created by an incredibly talented artist, Traci Owens. I have been fortunate to be able to photograph her work and turn each piece into an art journal / sketchbook. This particular canvas is huge in real life. Having it in miniature form is a treat.
The front and back covers will be the painting you see in the picture. The inside cover will be different and at my discretion. I do not ever create two journals the same on the inside.
There are 40 hand torn pages of mixed media 98lb cold pressed paper. All pages are blank. I do include tabs so this can easily be turned into a photo album or you can use it as a mixed media journal.
Dimensions are approx 11.25 inches tall and 7 inches wide. Due to it being handmade, there will be slight variations in the size.
I bind most of my journals in the coptic stitch method. This has an exposed spine and the decorative stitching can be seen. This one was a modified celtic stitch. I like to change things every once in a while and right now this is my favorite stitch. It also allows the book to lay flat. Which is an advantage for anyone who has ever written or drawn in books before.
I take a lot of pride in my work. I try to use the best materials available to me to ensure longevity. I use acid free products and with a little bit of love and care, this should last generations.
traciowens.com has more of Traci's artwork and history about her process.
Handmade coptic bound bug journal made for a local art gallery. The owner specifically requested some Halloween journals and this was one of four created for her.

Inside Paper:
40 pages of hand torn cream drawing paper (80 front and back). I like a deckle edge to my pages and it gives it a completely different look than a straight cut piece of paper. I think it adds a distinctive and elegant look that you can't get with mass produced journals or albums.

I like to keep the inside cover paper (aka endpapers) a surprise.
I needed a really big rose for a personal project. This is my first attempt. I used floral crepe paper in three different colors to make one rose. A white, cream and then some kind of pink. I have yet to figure out how to transport these in boxes across the country. One day maybe. For now, I make them for friends and family or anyone local who wants to buy one.
This was a special journal made for a special client. The client in question needed three journals. One for herself, one for her son and one for her daughter. This red jazz cloth journal was created for her son. She picked out the cloth and then I took over from there turning it into book cloth and then into what you see. This was my first cloth journal and mitered corners. I wasn't sure if it was going to work, but thankfully it did. I ordered extra cloth just to be on the safe side in case I needed to make another one.
This was a collaboration between a shop named Riveting and myself. I was sent the hand stamped copper plate and came up with this idea of a journal around it. A lot of research about glue went into this project. Some glues that are used specifically for metal are not healthy for paper. Then some glues used for paper won't hold metal.
The cover consists of two layers of board where I was able to trace out the metal plate, add a little bit and then cut it out. I thought it needed a little bit more than just setting the plate into its new home, I adorned the top and bottom with skeleton leaves in green and cream.

Coptic binding with waxed Irish linen thread in cream and green.
Brass eyelets.
I was sent a picture of a purse and asked if I could turn it into a journal. It definitely grabbed a hold of my interest as I have never made a journal from a purse before. It was a canvas purse. I honestly didn't know if I was capable and when I learned it was a purse that belonged to her sister who was now deceased, I was very nervous. I didn't want to destroy this purse that meant so much to the client.
I very carefully cut it up and that first cut was the worst. It was at that point I knew I couldn't go back and I had to just keep going forward. I wanted to get as much of the fabric as I possibly could and I ended up with a journal 8 inches tall by 10 inches wide.
The client requested watercolor paper. I'm used to working with 70, 80 or 98lb paper. This was 140lb. Which is to say it was thick. One sheet per layer (known as a signature in book binding terms). I was able to get 15 signatures in all.
To date, this was the hardest and most rewarding journal I have had the honor of creating.
This is a handmade baby book for a then soon to be grandma. Olivia has since been welcomed into this world, but this was made shortly prior to her appearance. I was looking through several hundred sheets of paper to find just the right one. The pink background with silver foil and the little bird on the delicate branch of apple blossoms jumped out at me. Finding the end papers (inside front and back cover paper) was just a matter of holding up the little bird paper and seeing which one matched the best. I had it narrowed down to two or three, but ultimately decided on the collage of flowers because it really reminded me of the soon to be grandma. Little accents like eyelets were easy with this journal because of the silver foil already on the cover. So silver eyelets it was. Most of the time, I have a few options with what color thread to pick, but the green and pink just went so well that I didn't even have to think about it. When it was all done, I wrapped it up in simple kraft paper, twine and three dried yellow roses with three dried leaves. This was a gift made from start to finish with nothing but love.
